Publication Ethics

Faculty of Al Alsun journals adopt the Committee on Publication Ethics standards (COPE). The statement of publication ethics of the Faculty of Al Alsun - Ain Shams University includes the Committee of Publication Ethics guidelines as well as the ethical bylaws and regulations relevant to authors, reviewers, and the editorial board.

Authors’ Responsibilities

  • Authors should adhere to the Faculty of Al -Alsun guidelines and the standards of publication ethics that conform with COPE.
  • Authors should ensure that they submit original works.
  • Authors should abide by the regulations of the faculty journals.
  • Authors should follow the rules of quotations, citations, and publication ethics.
  • According to the publication ethics, authors should not submit a manuscript that has already been published and should not submit a manuscript concurrently to more than one journal. 
  • Authors have the right to publish their manuscripts in other journals after they receive the journal official rejection of publication or after they receive the journal approval of withdrawing the manuscript.
  • Authors should have the co -authors’ consent prior to the publication of the manuscript.
  • Authors should mention the contribution of the co-authors and include their names in the order of their contribution in the manuscript. The corresponding author should also make sure that only the co-authors’ names are inserted in the manuscript and no other authors are included.
  • Authors should disclose any conflicts of interest that might be construed to influence the results of the manuscript review.
  • Authors should avoid any unethical behavior like fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism.
  • Authors should ensure that their studies have been conducted in full accordance with the ethical standards of human rights.
  • If authors find a fatal error in their manuscripts, they must inform the editorial board to correct or delete it.
  • Authors have the copyrights of their manuscripts and once their manuscripts are accepted for publication, the copyright is transferred to the publisher.
  • Authors should revise their manuscripts using the reviewers’ comments. If they disagree with these comments, they should provide convincing justifications or else the journal has the right to reject the manuscripts. 

Reviewers’ Responsibilities   

  • Reviewing a manuscript is a major step in the publishing process.
  • Reviewers should adhere to the Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers (COPE).
  • Reviewers who are not ready to review the manuscripts must inform the Editor-in-Chief and withdraw from reviewing.
  • Reviewers should not use any information about a submitted manuscript for their own interests.
  • Reviewers should dissociate themselves from making use of any information mentioned in reviewed manuscripts.
  • Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, or other relationships with any of the authors.
  • Reviewers should make sure that manuscripts are free of plagiarism and should inform the Editor-in-Chief of any similarity between the manuscript they review or any other published one.
  • Reviewers should not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript prior to the consent of the Editor -in -Chief.
  • Reviews should be conducted objectively and the comments should be written clearly with supporting arguments.
  • Reviews should be submitted within the requested time.
  • Reviewers’ information and comments are highly confidential and they are only disclosed to the Editor-in-Chief and the Vice- Editor -in -Chief 

Editorial Board Responsibilities

  • Editors and editorial staff should not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript nor about the comments of the reviewers.
  • Editors should make sure that the submitted manuscripts adhere to the publication ethics.
  • Editors evaluate the submitted manuscripts without regard to the authors’ race, gender, citizenship, religious belief, or political affiliation. 
  • Editors should deal with the authors’ complaints and keep all the relevant documents.
  • Editors should report all the authors’ complaints to the Editor -in -Chief.  
  • Editors should review the manuscript forms.
